Now look to the right hand side at the boxes, one of them should say layers, right click over it and press merge visible. You can add text to your images with a cool opacity background.įollow the steps as above but make the image smaller, relevant to the size of your text, Once you have the background with opacity add some text to the image. This is some sample text behind this image to show that it is transparent. I have put some text behind the image to show the effect. This is the image as a result of the previous steps. You will notice that you can still see the squares behind the image showing that it is now a slightly transparent coloured image. Now you have chosen your colour and the opacity level click over the transparent image to fill it with colour. For my examples the opacity level was set to 65. Completely transparent imageĬhoose absolutely any colour you would like, next click the paint bucket tool or fill button, then change the opacity level, the lower the opacity the more transparent the background will be. When you have created the size click transparent to make the image png format, alternatively if you have already created the image with a white back ground then click the marquee tool, then right click the image and click select all, then press Ctrl and X this will make your image totally transparent. Simply create a new image, make it the size you require to overlay your other image. Using a paint program such as you can easily create a slightly transparent coloured image. What makes a coloured image slightly transparent, sometimes we want to make an image slightly transparent or opaque, this way we can overlay an object and still see through the image. Both the reflect and repeat options add a more distinctive and they give a very different effect. What makes a coloured image slightly transparent As you can see below, pad ensures that the colours are distributed evenly, with smooth blending between each. Pad is the style that we have been using throughout this guide. There are three options to choose from: Pad, Reflect and Repeat. You will see the current spread method selected in the second from top menu bar. Let’s begin by looking at the Spread Methods. These include the Spread Method and Mode options. We have covered most aspects of the gradient tool however there are a few more settings we’d like to mention. Radial gradients are concentric circles, which bleed together, and can either be used centrally to show all the colours, or to one side as below. What this means is that the gradient will either be applied in straight lines as you can see from the example above (horizontal) and below (vertical). There are two different types of gradient: Linear and Radial. You can use any gradient colour scheme you like, either one of the presets or your own creation. You’ll then need to paste the logo over the gradient. Press control and A, then control and C to select and copy the logo. Open your logo with a transparent background (PNG file).

Follow the instructions below to achieve this. The logo underneath has been completely obscured by the overlay.īy using separate layers you can reorder the canvas so that the logo or image sits on top of the gradient. In this second shot the black is set to 100.

In the screenshot below the general opacity level is set to 100 and the opacity of the black in the gradient is set to just 5. There are a number of preset gradients but you can also create your own. The lower the opacity level, the more of an image behind the gradient will be visible. Opacity is measured as a percentage: the higher the percent, the stronger the colour will be, while lower opacity levels give a tint. It’s important to understand the different functions of the gradient tool. The gradient tool is useful for backgrounds. The Pixlr gradient tool is used occasionally for creative projects.
